Planning for Emergencies

The Parish Council has worked with Bradford Council to develop an Emergency Plan for Steeton and Eastburn. The plan is now complete and can be found by clicking here. The plan brings together the information needed to respond to an emergency, especially the type of emergency that would mean that Steeton and Eastburn are cut off from outside help. It includes phone numbers of vital services and details of emergency accommodation. Equipment has been purchased using a grant from the NHS primary care Trust, including snow shovels, hi vis jackets torches and first aid kits, these are stored at the HUB.

HUB car park and landscaping

HUB Car Park and Landscaping
The car parking area has been improved, with the addition of a safety barrier and grading of the surface to provide an additional parking space and make access from the road easier. Landscaping work to plant shrubs and climbers will begin soon. These improvements have been paid for by a grant from the Big Lottery Awards for All fund.

Bowling Green Play Area

Bowling Green Play Area
The new playground is now ready for use and open. An official launch was held on Saturday 6th June to which all sponsors were invited. Funding of £67,000 for the playground was obtained by the Council from two landfill tax distribution organisations, Yorventure and WREN. Yorventure awarded the council £25,000 through funds generated by Yorwaste Ltd. WREN awarded £42,000. This is in addition to £950 already contributed by local businesses and over £380 raised by the Steeton parent and toddler group. The council contributed £5,800 of its own resources to the project.
