Neighbourhood Policing Team

Neighbourhood policing is about providing the local community with a dedicated and accountable team with local ownership. This will be achieved through three directed objectives:

  1. They will conduct their day to day work through intelligence-led targeting of the problems that matter most to the public.
  2. This will be achieved through joint action by police, partner agencies and the public.
  3. The NPT will endeavour to reduce crime and the fear of crime throughout the area by specific actions in your village and town. (See News Roundup for examples as they happen.)

Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team can be contacted on 01274 47530

Officers may be out on patrol and unable to take your call. Please leave a message in order that someone can call you back. To contact the main police switchboard for non-urgent enquiries, ring 101.

Steeton Walking for Health Group

Steeton Walking Group has now been going for many years and we have members from Haworth, Keighley, Sutton, Carleton and Gargrave. We have a membership of about twenty and meet every Monday morning at the Football Club Car Park off Station Road at 9.30am. We then use either bus, train or cars to the start of the walk. We get together at Steeton Hall afterwards for drinks and a chat and to arrange walks for the next month. We average about 10 walkers per week although we have had as many as 15 and as few as 3! Our favourite (especially in inclement weather) is still Bolton Abbey as there are many and varied walks from there. We have been to Foulridge, Pendle, Menston and Poole to mention but a few and have old favourites such as Gargrave, Grassington and Haworth.

To accommodate walkers of all abilities, there are now 2 walking groups.

The first group usually walk between 5 and 8 miles. They are arranged in advance and are always subject to change to suit the weather. Below are some future walks

9th Sept - Lindley Wood 7th Oct - West End reservoir

16th Sept - Appletreewick 14th Oct - Settle

23rd Sept Addingham 21st Oct - Cononley

30th Sept - Ponden Kirk 28th Oct - Linton/Burnsall

The 2nd group walk between 3 and 5 miles and have around 9 regular walkers, and usually average around 6, meeting at Steeton Hall car park at 9.45am. September walks include Addingham/Skipton, Farnhill, Foulridge, Barden Moor and Timble. Please contact Pat Andrews on 01535 658689 for details

We are always on the look out for new routes. Anyone wishing to join us can contact Barry Wilson on 01535 654339 for further details.

It doesn't always rain but this was in August 2016
