Joint Transport Working Group

Transport Issues: A joint working party has been set up with Silsden Town Council to discuss transpost issues, including car parking and disabled access at Steeton and Silsden Railway Station.

A survey of users of Steeton and Silsden railway station has been carried out and the report is available to download.

A successful bid has been submitted to the LEADER initiative for £10,000 to complete the funding to enable the footpath to be constructed between the bridge and the access path to the Leeds bound platform.

Councillor Mallinson updated the parish council on progress made by the Joint Transport Working Group at the March 2009 parish council meeting:

  • £51,000 of scheduled works and investments already identified
  • £31,000 funding already secured
  • Discussion taking place to put forward a £250,000 bid to the DfT
  • A user survey to be carried out soon. £500 funding secured to do this work
  • Talks continue for a larger car park scheme
  • Discussions continue to integrate ALL public transport timetables.

Vehicle access will be stopped by erecting new barriers

One way road sysytem proposed

The Armco barrier will be moved back and a new footpath constructed. 

A one-way road system is proposed using the access road through the woodyard.
