Eastburn Play Area Opening Event
Saturday 24 April 2010
The Opening Event was a great success with over 200 people attending on a warm sunny day. The event started with Eastburn School Samba Band and Choir performing some lively music. The play and fitness equipment was given the thumbs up by children and adults alike and declared as ‘amazing’. Demonstrations by members of Jai Freestyle Martial Arts and Fitness Academy and world class trials bikers entertained the crowds. Pennine Forge, the company commissioned to make the stunning entrance gates and benches also demonstrated their craft along with Richard Law who made wooden objects on a traditional lathe. The Neighbourhood Policing Team organised fun activities for the children, Fran Sierevogel worked with children on art activities and Debbie Fearnley painted their faces. Keighley Cougar Players and volunteers took part in the hoola-hoop sessions and ‘Freddie’ mingled with the crowds to the delight of young Cougar supporters.
Steeton-with-Eastburn Parish Council and Eastburn Playing Fields Association would like to thank all those involved in making the day such a fantastic success.

Eastburn School Planting Event, 11 March 2010
Children from Eastburn Junior and Infant School visited the site to help with tree and shrub planting. The children planted about 100 young trees and 100 shrubs and herbaceous native species. Members of the 'Forest of Bradford' charity supported the planting event.
Community Planting Event, 7 March 2010.
The parish council would like to thank those members of the community and Andrew Mallinson, Ward Councillor, for taking part in a fantastic effort to plant about 200 native species trees. Ian Butterfield, Forest of Bradford, co-ordinated the day and supplied the Alder, Willow, Silver Birch and Rowan trees. The photographs below are a selection from the day.

The boardwalk through the wetland area is taking shape and a start has been made on installing two of the large pieces of play equipment, the cantilever swing and the Aeroskate.
